Noah's First Day of Kindergarten

So we've been transitioning Noah to Kindergarten for a few weeks.  His new school, which is Matty's school, has a week long transition class that we attended back in July.  And then on the Friday before school, we had an open house.  Drop off for that first week in July was a nightmare.  You name it, and it went about as badly as it could.  I begged, pleaded, loved, cuddled, hugged, drug, and threatened to try to get Noah into the classroom.  It was a mess.  We'd just gotten back from vacation in North Carolina the day before. Madeline was sick, and we had to leave her in the car, so Matty stayed with her vs both of us accompanying him.  Now within 5 minutes of drop off, he was fine, but nonetheless, it was a painful drop off for all Clothier parties.  On the Friday open house before school, it was completely different. He was fine, a little skiddish, but overall fine.  And now we got to today.  His buddy, AJ, had an excellent drop off, and I think that inspired Noah.  He was wonderful. No sweat...was barely even nervous.  He and Matty went it, they washed Noah's hands, and then we walked around the classroom a bit.   Noah was just sure that his dad was going to cry, not him.  We almost forgot his backpack, left it in the car, and had to go back and get it. When we left he was playing chess with a little boy who was speaking German to his dad.

And his day was great!  He really likes his teacher - he said she was awesome. (Side note, I asked him what made her awesome because I said I could do those things that made her awesome too, and he said, "It's okay, Mom, you are already pretty awesome.") He had pasta with red sauce for lunch, got to be a couch sitter, and is sleeping in his bracelet his teacher gave him.  He made friends - Eric and Andy were the two he spoke about, and he loved going to "After School/Extended Day".  There he played with Andy, who was "all over the place, like me" and was having fun with Hungry Hippo when Matty got there to pick him up.  He showed his dad his new "America Ninja Warrior" moves,  and they headed home.  The day was a lot for Noah - as he fell asleep in the car.  We went to dinner at his choice - Noodles and Company.  And he is excited to go back to tomorrow!

At the open house, Noah arranged the #s from 1 - 99 and so we went back to check and make sure they were still in order.  They were!
