One

Noah turned one. You all probably didn't overlook that, and you were probably wondering when I was going to post about it. Noah turning one has been hard - hard and joyful. We could not be happier with our life. It has just gone so fast, so fast, and we can't really remember a time before Noah was in our lives!

Our dear Noah, you are the most amazing person! We love you so much! Here are some tidbits about you, so we will always remember what you were like when you were one. You have a great sense of humor, you love to play pranks, from sneaking up on Mom and Dad, to surprisingly timed bathrooms (that you think are funny!) You love daycare. You eat like a champ, but you do not nap well there. You are very sweet. You greet everyone who comes into your room or the house, and you love to open the door for them. You are very social and love to kiss and hug your friends. You love hanging out with your dad and his friends - poker night is your favorite night! You love races across the room, and anything to do with music. You love time with your books, and you love to open any drawer that you can get your hands on! You love lids and spoons and laundry! And you love to climb. You sign really well - please, more, and milk are a few. You say a lot of words but "football" is your favorite. You love to play peak-a-boo and "Where's Noah?" And you run everywhere, and you stomp really loudly across the floor, just like your mother. You have stopped taking the bottle and have moved from formula to whole milk. Your favorite food is "Oh's" (Cheerios) and green bean casserole, and you aren't too fond of sweets. You have 5.5 teeth, and you had fangs on the top (you got your outside teeth before the front two!) You love to cuddle with Mom and Dad, and you sleep through the night - from about 8:30 to 7:00. We love you so much, and we are so blessed to have you in our lives.

To celebrate Noah's birthday, at every Christmas with our families, we also had a birthday party. Holiday birthdays stink (I can testify) so we made it up to Noah by celebrating a lot. He had three cakes - and the only one he liked was an ice cream cake. We had a party in Carnegie with my family, no love for the cake at all. We had a birthday party here in Lawrence on his actual birthday with some of our friends, and he cried at the cake. And we all got smart by the time we got to Delaware, and got him an ice cream cake that he loved.

Here is his Delaware ice cream cake! That's cousin Drew and Sara, waiting patiently.
Trying the ice cream!
The whole family is celebrating!

His dad taught him to lick the plate!
Here we are before Noah's birthday party in Lawrence!
His cakes - it's a long story about why there are three!
Doesn't matter how many there are, he doesn't like any!
His cake in Carnegie!
Loving from his parents!
What lengths his Dad will go to!
Blowing out the candle!
Happy 'cause he hasn't tried the cake yet!

Doesn't this say it all?

This video is from Delaware!

Precious, precious, precious. Loved watching him "grow up" - via your awesome blog - to be the big 1 year old boy that he is. Oh mama, you are going to have your hands full with that cute charmer!!!

I have read this 3 times and cry every time. What a year you have had with this child. He is smart, alert, loveable, loud, smiles all the time and always knows what he wants.
All your years with Noah are going to be the best time of your life.
What precious memories you have left for him to have.

That is the best tribute to a 1-year-old ever! I hope Noah appreciates all the great documenting his parents are doing for him when he's older (and can be blackmailed)! :)
