Okay readers, so far, so good. We did our usual routine - got on our jammies and then went and sat on the couch for a few minutes before heading to bed. All was fine - he asked for his pacifier, we gave it to him, and he told us right away it was "breaking". We told him that happens to pacifiers as he becomes a big boy, and this news was not hard for him at all. Now, the little toot does know where we keep the spares, so he wanted to go to "Daddy's drawer". Fortunately, we were wise to him, and had already removed all the spares. He held his broken pacifiers (two of them) on the couch and eventually told us that he wanted to put them away. He and Daddy went and put them in the drawer and they are still there right now! The only hiccup was that he didn't want to go to bed. We haven't usually had any trouble with that before. So we eventually got him to bed, and I sat on the floor beside his bed and answered his call to "pat me" in his cute whispery voice. Sweet little boy that he is, he returned the favor and patted me back. Matty sat in the chair, our usual routine, playing Angry Birds on his iPhone. After about 1000 pats (maybe about 9 minutes), he went to sleep. We aren't sure what will happen in the night, so keep your fingers crossed. And we didn't even have to use the "Woody" doll.
I did have a few tears as I was patting Noah 1000 times. He is growing up and while that this awesome, it is also really hard. I think tonight was a little harder for me than him (I know, I know, it's always about me, huh?)

Bless his heart. I feel so sorry for him as he is going through this trauma.
Hopefully each day it will get better.
The pats will get shorter as time goes on and he knows the pacifier is gone.
Good job!! Getting rid of the paci's can be so hard!! But he seems to be doing good!! Don't worry--night time routines will turn back to normal before you know it! I promise!!!!
Way to go Noah!!!! Make way for the big boy!
