Tomorrow, we are entering the first phase of pacifier removal. I have been ready to get rid of it since he turned one, but we waited til he got all his teeth, and though I'm not sure if all those teeth at the back of his mouth are all filled in, it's time. He doesn't get it much, just for sleeping at night and naps, but he loves it. Loves, loves, loves his pacifier. Over the years, he has called it a couple of different names - passer, pasafer, and finally pacifier. He usually puts one in his mouth and holds onto another while he goes to sleep. And he is crafty with it, I'm kinda nervous that he has some stashed around the house that I don't know about.
So how are we ending the pacifier, you ask? Well we are working with Noah's school to follow the "snip method." And lucky for us, they go first. So tomorrow at noon, for Noah's nap, Lance, Noah's lead teacher, will have snipped the pacifier. Each day, we will snip a little more and either by the end of this week (if it is going well) of the end of next week (if it is not) we will have a stub left. I think Noah will hold onto his stub since he already likes to hold one, but we shall see. I also think going to sleep this week will be painful, and I anticipate a couple times during the night that he will wake up and be unhappy. It will be interesting to see what he thinks about a "broken" pacifier.
Wish us luck and think lots of positive and happy thoughts for the Clothier family. And send Noah mental love - it's a little sad to introduced to the cruelty of life (losing something you love) at two years old!

Oh my goodness, what a trauma that little boy is going to live through.
As strong willed as he is, this may be a lot harder then 1 week.
I will think positive thoughts all week long for Noah and much love.
